Peirush Abarbanel al HaTorah
The Commentary of Abarbanel on the Torah

For the first time in 500 years, the commentary of Don Yitzchak Abarbanel (sometimes spelled Abravanel) on the Torah and Prophets and Writings has been translated from its original Hebrew into another language. This is not the opinion of some writer as to what Abarbanel meant. This is Abarbanel, in his own words, merely rendered into readable English.

His references to other writings are now clearly cited. His famous question and answer style is preserved, with each question cross-referenced with its answer. Each commentator he cites who is no longer well known is identified with a one- or two-line biography. The completed set is planned for some forty volumes.

The Torah series currently consists of the Book of Genesis, complete in three volumes.

The Prophets series currently consists of the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, and the Twelve Minor Prophets (a two-volume set).

The Writings series currently consists of the Book of Daniel (a two-volume set), which is part 1 of a trilogy entitled Migdal HaYeshuah, the Tower of Salvation.

In process at the moment are: the Book of Yeshayahu, the Book of Shmuel, the Book of Devarim, and Ateret Zekeinim.

The Golan Abarbanel Research Institute is working on a complete translation of Abarbanel's commentary to all five books of the Torah, the books of the Prophets and writings, Pirkei Avot, the Passover Haggadah, Migdal HaYeshuah, and various other works by Don Abarbanel. In addition the Institute is working on a translation and commentary on Machaneh Yisrael by the Chofetz Chaim and on various other works.
